Krásná (German: Schönbach, Schönbach bei Asch) is a village and municipality in Cheb District in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. In 2008 the village had a population of 500.

Geography

Krásná lies 1 kilometre northwest from , about 643 meters above sea level. With Aš create a one part. In this days, Krásná municipality consist from two village; Krásná and Kamenná, few hamlets, include Štítary and Větrov and a two ghost towns; Újezd and Štítary.

It neighbour with Aš to the southeast, with Podhradí to the east and with Kamenná to the northeast. To the southwest there is the German border.

History

Krásná was first mentioned in 1331 as a property of Neuberg. Around 1400 was Krásná bough by the Zedtwitz. This noble house controlled whole Aš-region almost 500 years. In 1642 a small castle was built here, but in 1828 burn out. The castle was torn down in 1950s.

After WW2, because of the buffer zone, a few village over the Krásná, include Štítary, Újzed, Elfhausen or Nové Domy, was torn down, and became a ghost towns.

From 1898, a brewery was located in the village.

From 1960 Krásná was one of districts of Aš, but in 1989 created own municipality with Kamenná.

Transport

A train station Aš-předměstí is located a few metres over the village. A bus stops is also located in the village.
